Setsuna was dusting her living room, trying to keep her mind off of the events that had taken place the previous day. Pausing, she let out a deep sigh. Ever since Usagi had come to her in tears, Setsuna’s emotions had become a mix of protection and love for her Princess. Those emotions had come to a head when Mamoru paid visit to her home. She had acted as the voice for Usagi, letting Mamoru know that she did not want to see him, but when he persisted, Setsuna lost control and slapped him. Setsuna then vented to her feelings about Usagi, and how she was sickened by the fact that Mamoru simply could not wait.
“Setsuna?” Usagi’s soft voice broke through Setsuna’s revere. “Is something wrong?”
Setsuna shook her head as she set the duster down and strode over to Usagi. “No.” She replied as she pulled Usagi into a hug. “Just thinking.”
Usagi looked up in curiosity. “What were you thinking about?”
Giving a small smile, Setsuna replied, “I was thinking about what you would think of having Haruka and Michiru over for dinner. What do you say?”
After several moments, Usagi finally nodded in agreement. “It would be nice to see them, it’s just…”
“I won’t mention what took place, unless they bring it up first ok?” Setsuna assured.
Reassured, Usagi nodded once more, a smile appearing on her face. “Ok. I’ll help you cook tonight, Setsuna.”
Slightly taken aback by Usagi’s offer, it was a few moments before Setsuna could respond. “I’m sure together we’ll make something wonderful for all of us.”
A few short hours later, the sound of light knocking was heard on the front door. As Setsuna opened the door, she saw Haruka, dressed in a white dress shirt with dark blue pants and a beige leather jacket. Holding onto Haruka’s arm was Michiru, in a simple turquoise knee length dress with white heels.
“Haruka, Michiru, come in please!” Setsuna greeted warmly, “It’s wonderful to see you both.”
“It’s good to see you too, Setsuna.” Haruka replied, as she hung up her jacket on a nearby hook.
“How is Usagi?” Michiru asked softly.
Setsuna’s face grew somber, as she looked down slightly. “She’s a bit better, but she’s trying to hide her sorrow. I can see it in her eyes. So you know what happened then?”
The two lovers nodded. “Yes. The other girls told us what happened.” Michiru replied.
“We had…choice words with Mamoru.” Haruka said flatly, “We’re sure he got the message.”
“If at all possible, I would like this to be kept from Usagi. The whole topic in general.” Setsuna said, as she motioned for Haruka and Michiru to enter the living room.
Before either of them could reply, Usagi entered the room wearing a white blouse and a pink skirt. Haruka gave Setsuna a small nod before turning her attention to Usagi.
“Haruka, Michiru, it’s so wonderful to see you both.” Usagi greeted warmly.
“It’s always good to see you too, Usagi.” Michiru replied, walking over to her and giving her a small hug.
“Where did you two go?” Usagi asked, as she and Haruka shared a small hug as well.
“Oh you know my Haruka; she always likes to go where the wind flows.” Michiru replied with a wink.
Haruka let out a small laugh as she gently squeezed Michiru’s arm. “We drove up the coast to a special spot on the beach Michiru loves to visit.”
“Really?” Usagi asked, looking up at Haruka in curiosity. “Someday, would you take me there?”
“Dinner is nearly ready.” Setsuna softly interrupted. “Come take a seat at the table.”
“Someday.” Haruka promised, as she followed Michiru to the table.
Dinner was a treat for all of the young women. Usagi surprised Haruka and Michiru when they learned that she had helped to prepare the meal with Setsuna. Even though Usagi wasn’t the greatest of cooks, the meal had turned out wonderfully. Pleasant conversation continued throughout the meal, occasionally broken by soft laughter from one of the young women as they talked.
A few hours later, Haruka and Michiru bade Setsuna and Usagi goodnight. Usagi helped Setsuna clean up and after placing the dishes away, announced that she was going to wash up for the night. Setsuna picked up a book and sat down on her couch as she waited for Usagi to finish. No matter how hard Setsuna tried, she couldn’t concentrate on her book. Her mind kept wandering to the near kiss that she and Usagi nearly shared. Every time she had wanted to confess her feelings for her Princess, something always seemed to interrupt them before it could come to light.
Setsuna jumped slightly as Usagi’s soft voice interrupted her thoughts. “Setsuna? Everything okay?”
Quickly composing herself, Setsuna gave a small smile as she looked at Usagi, dressed in a white night gown with her long yellow hair running freely down her back. “Yes, I was just lost in thought.”
Usagi sat down beside Setsuna on the couch. “I was thinking…” She began softly, “I keep thinking about what you said before: that you never shared a kiss with someone.” Usagi looked into Setsuna’s beautiful garnet eyes as she leaned forward slowly. “I…I want to share that…with you.”
Setsuna was speechless as she stared at Usagi, her face coming closer every passing second. She felt her heart begin to race and her cheeks turn slightly red as Usagi’s hand lightly cupped her cheek, tilting her head ever so slightly and closing her eyes. Setsuna closed her eyes as she felt Usagi’s soft lips press against her own, a soft sigh escaping her mouth as her lips responded to the kiss. To Setsuna, this was her dream coming true, and she wished that it would never end.
